Home Repair Update for next week 6/23 – 6/28

We are looking forward to a very busy week as a group of volunteers (about 30 youth and 9 adults) from Medina Ohio is returning to help us on several projects. The biggest one is the construction of a large utility shed on PPC’s property (the former Franklin Hospital location). Since that’s a big group of volunteers, Ross anticipates using break-out groups to undertake several county referrals and clean-up work at the new Homeless Shelter in the Siverly section of Oil City under the direction of their adult leaders. Work will be on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Ross will be very busy coordinating efforts each of these projects (as I will be on vacation celebrating 50 years of marriage!!) so if you would like to help him manage “the troops” or swing a hammer yourself, please give him a call ASAP at 1-724-866-4858. Your willingness to help is greatly appreciated.

Yours in Christ,

Paul and Ross

Home Repair Update

Your Mustard Seed Home Repair Team is wishing you a relaxing and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend (in spite of the on-again off-again rain).

We made great progress at Abby’s, but didn’t quite get the bathroom all put together as we had hoped; however, the linoleum is installed so on Wednesday we will return to set the sink and commode; install the medicine cabinet, towel bars and t.p. holder; and paint the ceiling. Then we can bring out the Champaign (non-alcoholic) and celebrate!

For Thursday and Friday we are trying to set up some county referrals that we can knock out rather quickly. BUT WE NEED SOME HELP . . . 2 of our “regular” volunteers had to step back and take some time off this week, so please call Ross at (724) 866-4858 or Paul at (814-516-5341) if you can give us even a couple of hours this week. All skill levels are needed.

Yours in Christ,
Paul and Ross

Home Repair Update

Great news. Our initial phase at Abby’s home at 182 Glenview Ave. in Oil City is nearly complete. We plan to work Mon., Tue. & Wed. this week wrapping up finish items so Abby can have her bathroom and kitchen back! Since we are so close, please call before you come to make sure we will be there and need your help. Ross (724-866-4858) or Paul (814-516-5341).

Next week we will be scheduling several county referrals that may allow us to split into several small teams. Details will be provided as we check the weather and client availability.

Yours in Christ ,

Paul and Ross

Home Repair Update for the week of 5/12/2019

We are making amazing progress at Abby’s, but are being slowed a little while waiting for certain materials. This week we will be primarily in the bathroom, so a large crew is not needed right away. But as soon as we take delivery on suspended  ceiling tiles and the replacement window we could use a few extra hands. Work will start at 9 AM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so if you can help, please call Ross at 724-866-4858 or Paul at 814-516-5341.

When we have enough volunteers, we also manage to catch some other referrals while work continues at Abby’s.  God has really been good to us with volunteers willing to be his hands and feet in the community.

Yours in Christ, Paul and Ross

Home Repair Project Update

Our MSM Board Has approved our participation in a home repair project that falls outside our Human Services Dept. referral system. Here is a brief background:

A group of approximately 6 businesses and several churches asked MSM if we could help them  assist a young mother and her two children as part of a community effort.

Eric Lendrum, his wife Abby and their children moved into a home at 182 Glenview Ave in Oil City that needed some updating which Eric planned to do himself. But after a courageous battle with cancer, Eric died at age 27 on Feb. 9, 2019.

Chad Snyder of Snyder Electric has agreed to lead professional trades and volunteers in making sure Abby’s home is safe, warm, and dry.

Can you help this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (5/1/19-5/3/19)!?

Abby and her two kids have moved out temporarily while Mustard Seed volunteers gutted her kitchen and bath, and professional  volunteers updated electric and plumbing in those areas. We hope to get both rooms put back together this week . . . but we need your help getting walls, floors, cabinets, sinks, lights, etc put back together enough by Friday afternoon to let them come home again.

Come share the love of God as we work at 182 Glenview Ave. in Oil City. Teams will be there beginning at 9 each morning (W-T-F) until about 4 PM. Call Ross or Paul if you have any questions.

Yours in Christ,

Ross (724-866-4858)

Although work is not yet scheduled to begin, we wanted to give you a heads up on the project and pray that you can help this family get a hot water tank and a furnace installed and badly needed updates to their kitchen and bath areas.

You will love this family and your reward will be eternal. Watch for updates as work is scheduled.

Home Repair Update for this week (3/25/19 – 3/29/19)

Work will again be a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. On Tuesday we will finalize work on beds at the warehouse, both organizing them and building some headboards & footboards. We will also organize our paint room. On Wednesday and perhaps Thursday we plan to repair a set of porch steps and add handrails in Rouseville. FINALLY we get to work outside!!

If you can help on Tuesday, just show up at the garage door across the street from the Seneca Post Office anytime after 9:30 AM. On Wednesday and Thursday, Ross will be leading the crew so call him at 724-866-4858 to get the address and to let him know how many helpers he can count on.

God Bless all our volunteers,

Paul and Ross

Home Repair Update for this week (3/18/2019 to 3/22/2019)

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we will again be working in the warehouse at the former Cranberry High School beginning at 9:31 AM each day. Volunteers will be sorting through donated tools and supplies, then re-arranging them on shelving we will be building using cement blocks and long boards. And this area is now comfortably heated!!

Special Note: Although nearly 100 volunteers receive this email or phone call, the same four volunteers have responded in each of the past 3 weeks. They are a great group and they are still having a lot of fun, but are eager to spread the JOY among other volunteers rather than hogging it all up themselves. So . . . if you have some free time this week – please call Ross Kilian at 724-866-4858 or Paul Sallade at 814-516-5341.

Yours in Christ,

Paul ad Ross

PS: There are MANY doors in this very large building. This week, we are using the double glass doors on the side facing the parking lot used by school busses.

Home Repair Update for this week (3/11/2019 to 3/15/2019)

Please dress in layers as only one area is heated. If you have some free time, please call Ross Kilian at 1-724-866-4858 or Paul Sallade at 1-814-516-5341.
